Fair warning to my followers, I’ll probably be moaning about the #NFL and the #Browns tomorrow if the various rumours are true.
Notes in 2013
-
-
Turing pardoned, brilliant. While we’re at it why not pardon everyone else convicted under that nonsense law.
-
The other 3 people in the office don’t know who Jimmy Stewart is. The worst I can be charged with is manslaughter, yes?
-
2 minutes remaining and 12 points ahead, yet I’m still nervous when the Browns play the Patriots. Brady and Belichick do that to a person.
-
I saw dozens stop taking pictures of their recently graduated loved ones to simply see Mandela. I’ve rarely seen a crowd clear so quickly.
-
Another security alert, this time in Dunmurry. Dicks.
Step 1. Security alerts.
Step 2. mumble mumble mumble
Step 3. United Ireland? -
Every once in a while I give the Doctor Who reboot another go, and every time it’s utter shite. Totally abysmal, dreadfully overblown shite.
-
Sarcastic dancing to the music leaking from my colleagues headphones is probably not the correct response.
-
Cleveland Browns on Sky Sports at this point in the season. Will wonders never cease?
-
Finally some meaningful cricket tomorrow with the start of the World T20 qualifiers. Just a pity that all countries don’t have to qualify.
-
Currently sitting at 1st in #WRGPT. It’s only two days in, but this might be my highlight so I’m making the most of it!
-
Rambling stream-of-conciousness loosely-related tickets as a specification. How could that possibly go wrong?
-
Near gridlock near Lagan Valley hospital. Not helped by dreadful driving at the traffic lights by almost everyone.
-
My word association for the name Davone Bess is “dropped ball”. Not a good sign. #NFL #Browns
-
Struggle to the death between myself and an XPath expression. It’s now dead, but I think I need to re-grow some limbs. /me walks, falls over
-
I am forever stunned at the new depths of incompetence that @Translink_NI find with each “update” to their website.
-
Put important links in footer. Added infinite scrolling to the page. Well played, evil designer, well played.
-
Spend a frustrating time yesterday trying to diagnose out why a CSS transition wasn’t working. Lunchtime reading showed it’s a Safari bug.
-
This is the most fun watching the #Browns in years. Hoyer is not perfect but he’s competent so far, and that in itself is welcome.
-
Finally McQuaid is out at the UCI. About time too.
-
In returning from my “don’t let anyone spoil Dexter” exile I will just say that the Mayo result depressed me and the Cleveland one didn’t.
-
My use of swear-words has steadily risen throughout the afternoon culminating in the final minute of the All-Ireland. Now I’m just miserable
-
Over 3 hours to the start of the All-Ireland Football Final and I’m nervous. I don’t care if it’s a crap match, I just want a Mayo win!
-
First @blzzrd day where I’ve actually been at home when it arrived :)
-
I’m choosing to look at the first weekend of the NFL as resulting in the Browns being joint first in the AFC North. It looks better that way
-
Nice to finally have the NFL back. Granted it’s likely to be another season of anguish as a Browns fan but what can you do.
-
Having worked for @darrylxxx previously the best I can say for him is that he proved the value of my joining a union many years before.
-
Alan Lewis is another name on my list of cricket commentators I can’t stand. He’s not quite at the Blofeld/Vaughan level but he’s close.
-
@blzzrd When is issue 10 being posted out? And can I not get my customary 2 copies this time round? Think of the children.
-
Apple headphones turning volume down themselves, while ignoring me. Going to look silly on the bus with full-size Sennheisers as replacement
-
Good result! Mayo into the All-Ireland football final, and got to make Mickey Harte miserable at the same time :)
-
I am still surprised at how difficult it is for many developers to understand that people may use different tab sizes than their own.
-
As I’ll be participating in #twittersilence tomorrow (if you can participate in not participating), I’ll say this now. UP MAYO!
-
Great to see @IrishWomensCric going well against Japan in the World T20 qualifiers. Fine knock from Clare Shillington.
-
Rapid change for @evvnt, from company many developers had never heard of, to company many developers will never consider working for.
-
Trent Johnston (@green23) will be missed as a player when he retires in December. Fantastic player for Ireland.
-
On a literary note, I must recommend CRASH! by @juliangough, on Kindle. An excellent read, much like his books. He also writes a fine email!
-
Happy Birthday to Brian Cant for his 80th tomorrow. One of the best presenters of my childhood. #briancant80
-
Blofeld, Tuffnell, and Vaughan on TMS already. The BBC are really doing their best to stop me listening. #ashes
-
I’m finding it hard to care about this Ashes series. Having another one in 6 months has me feeling that this one is mostly pointless.
-
The grand conspiracy for the birthday of @ManyHues has come to a successful end. I’m definitely not cut out for deception and intrigue.
-
@carisenda I can’t fault your logic.
-
@carisenda I must admit I never even considered rotation on vine. I must pay attention to that when I try it :)
-
@carisenda Sweet zombie Jesus, what is up with that orientation!
-
The decline of @BBCr4today continues apace as they ignore important aspects of the Texas story so that they can report it in one sentence.
-
Well Texans, that really reflects well on you doesn’t it. Don’t forget that many of you voted these idiots in. It’s not just them to blame.
-
Sitting on my day off watching The Chase. I’m living the dream I tell you!
-
In replying to email it helps if I don’t leave the message in drafts for 3 days. Granted it also helps to reply sooner than 6 weeks later.
-
According to my retweet even @YodelOnline online themselves want to get behind the campaign to replace them. Can’t say I blame them.
-
I wonder how much I could raise on @kickstarter if I promised to start a delivery company to attempt to put Yodel out of business.
-
Iain Banks will be sadly missed. Player of Games was my first read of his, and I still love it now, and often re-read it.
-
The Associates & Affiliates podcast I just re-tweeted is excellent for coverage of the teams @Cricketicc doesn’t care about. Worth a listen.
-
img.ly/vf9GNom! Cheers @niall_adams
-
I don’t blame @boydrankin for wanting to play Tests. I blame @Cricketicc, including @ECB_cricket, for not allowing him to do so with Ireland
-
I’m disappointed at how disingenuous @ECB_cricket are regarding @boydrankin no longer playing for Ireland, but not surprised
-
Both happy and sad to see @boydrankin called up for the England ODI squad. If Ireland could play Tests this wouldn’t be happening.
-
It looks like I’ll be watching the #IrevPak match while making dinner. Here’s hoping I don’t poison @ManyHues.
-
Credit to @Irelandcricket for streaming the ODI versus Pakistan today. It’s just a pity that I’m in work while it’s on.
-
I almost admire the sheer balls of @DiscoverNI and @TitanicBelfast in not commenting on the security issues that plagued them today. Almost.
-
The site @DiscoverNI are using for GoT tickets seems to be totally insecure. People seeing other peoples details including card information!
-
I actually feel very sorry for the ticketing staff at @DiscoverNI who are having to deal with a mess someone else created.
-
@DiscoverNI I choose one time slot, on prices page it confirms it, but when I get to the payment page if tells me a different one.
-
The words @DiscoverNI, piss-up, and brewery come to mind this morning.
-
The awesome-level of earth is going to rise so much tomorrow when @Cmdr_Hadfield returns from the ISS. His Bowie video is well worth a watch
-
The work @Cmdr_Hadfield has been doing on the ISS has been fascinating. I almost don’t want him to come back! #ThankYouCommanderHadfield
-
I say this every time I get off a call with my parents, but @ManyHues is fantastic for getting them into using Skype and FaceTime.
-
Changing a function name, not bothering to change everywhere using the old name, and then releasing live will not get you on my good side.
-
The lemsip I took earlier has barely made a dent. This can not be a good sign.
-
A number of NI politicians lost any possibility of my vote today. If you don’t support equality then how could I possibly support you.
-
Impressive @Translink_NI can talk about Smartlink as a money saving option with a straight face when they’re putting the price I pay up 16%.
-
@Translink_NI A statement about fares going up which contains no information on what they will go up to. Why bother with a website at all?
-
If I’m this tired now there’s no way I’m going to be awake when the Browns make their first round pick in the the draft tonight.
-
Clive Tyldsley clearly bemused by the idea that a woman could be involved in running a football team. His idiocy knows no bounds.
-
@carisenda I’d go to Apple. I used Macsys once, it was a world of pain.
-
Depressing news regarding Iain M. Banks. I hope he enjoys the time he has left.
-
Is it really too much to ask that one issue is one ticket on a support system? Apparently the answer is yes :(
-
@virginmedia cust service have been lovely when talking to them, but keep sending BT engineers to look into the wrong thing. Arrgghh
-
Anyone looking for a text-based reader could try newsbeuter.org I’ve been using it happily for a while, with Dropbox for syncing.
-
@Translink_NI I did notice that it wasn’t one of the regular drivers for the route who went zooming by. The regular drivers are fine.
-
@Translink_NI Why bother publishing a timetable if the bus driver just drives through early and doesn’t stop?
-
Having “General good health” in a job specification as an essential criteria sets off the HR alarm in my head. Skating close to the wind?
-
Kevin Eldon has got his own comedy series! About bleeding time!
-
A quick vote for @DundalkCC would be appreciated. I played for the previous incarnation and it’s tough for a club without a proper pitch.
-
@Translink_NI I can only assume that the bus that went by without stopping, and not displaying any number, was mine. Great work.
-
Bugger, caught up on all of my podcasts, and don’t have one to listen to for my walk. Any recommendations?
-
Giro starting Belfast next year on the weekend of my birthday. I think I know how I’m spending a few days :)
-
Peeps engaging with @KernelMag remind me of the phrase “never wrestle with a pig, you’ll both get dirty and the pig enjoys it”
-
Times have sure changed for cricket in Dundalk. MT @DundalkCC: The first indoor training session of 2013 will take placeβ¦
-
Delighted to see that Art Modell didn’t get into the Hall of Fame. Long may that continue. Some things you can’t forgive. #browns #artout
-
I had somehow managed to miss that @EllisLab have released ExpressionEngine Core once again. Good thinking on their part.
-
Regarding that previous tweet, they can prise my Issue Zero hard copy of the @blzzrd out of my cold dead hands, and not before that.
-
@Translink_NI Is Hillsborough being served this morning by the 38/45/238 from Belfast? Cheers.
-
I so made the right decision to leave work early. RT @Translink_NI: #GLE 238 Belfast to Newry will not serve Hilsborough
-
Listening to The Organ again brings 2 thoughts to mind. 1) It’s a great shame they broke up. 2) Occasionally @ManyHues finds an absolute gem
-
@theyellowdoor I’ve just been informed that the chocolate cake recipe has been found!!!
-
Finally getting around to refactoring a number of scripts to turn them into a single script. The last day of the holiday well spent :)
-
Balcony, sea view, sun, good book, cup of tea. This is the life!
-
@Canonisation Casualty seems to be written by Julian Fellows this week. About as subtle as a brick!
