Man on the bus not covering your mouth when he coughs, I could really do without your Christmas gift.
Notes in 2012
-
-
Having to make an estimate with almost no information is always fun, especially when you know the scope and requirements will change later.
-
I think I need to get better headphones for work. Might have to get @theyellowdoor to remind me which ones she has.
-
Some politicians may come out of this with enhanced reputations. The ones who’ve not tried to exploit the situation for their own ends.
-
People rioting supposedly about flags, or politicians using the events for political point scoring. Not sure which depresses me more.
-
@blzzrd Obviously I don’t mind getting two, but it just doesn’t seem right :)
-
@blzzrd Before you send me two copies of the Blizzard again this month, do you fancy another crack at stopping this madness?
-
I appear to be in the mood to unfollow people today. You’re probably safe as long as you don’t say boring or offensive things though.
-
He’s the same bus driver who managed to be overtaken yesterday on a 30 minute route by the bus that left 30 minutes after him.
-
My bus driver doesn’t see the irony in criticising workmen for slowness despite turning up 30 minutes late on a 15 minute trip himself.
-
It astounds me when a form rejects an email address as invalid because of a plus sign. If it’s under my control I don’t let that happen. Grr
-
Recruiter says he’ll ring at a certain time. Doesn’t ring. Does get in touch later to apologise and explain. Pleasant surprise that.
-
A recruiter who includes a plain text attachment telling me that my client “cannot read this email” starts off in my bad books.
-
Absolutely worth the money. A whole selection of excellent articles. RT @blzzrd: The Complete Blizzard Collection - bit.ly/TvP10z
-
For some reason “Pull up to the bumper baby” is rattling around my head this morning. This is not necessarily a bad thing.
-
Every time I see a @GoDaddy advert it reinforces my commitment to never purchase anything from them.
-
I thought it was impossible for my opinion of Pat McQuaid to fall further. He is making a mockery of that belief with every word he utters.
-
Sad today as @swmcc had his last day in work before starting his new job next week. They’re lucky to have him.
-
Much that politicians do riles @ManyHues, however with his opposition to the oxford comma Owen Paterson may have just topped the list.
-
For some reason I’m distracted by wondering how a cricket scorecard would be marked up semantically in HTML. I blame the cold.
-
I think I’m hitting the stroppy part of being ill. I just hit my desk in frustration at coughing again.
-
@Canonisation Up and about for dinner and Merlin. They’ve not toned down the you-know-what, every scene has a double-entendre!
-
Voluntosubscription to @TheBuglePodcast paid for myself and @ManyHues. Long may the bullshit continue.
-
The glee shown at the inability of Cameron to say what Magna Carta means says more about some of his critics than it does about him.
-
For a horrible moment there I thought one of my domains hadn’t been renewed. Thankfully mistaken. I must really use it for something!
-
Given the lack of success of my exhortations of the last week I feel compelled to say “Come on the West Indies” for this afternoon.
-
Well at least my uncle will be happy with the Donegal win.
-
Bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger!
-
Come on Mayo!
-
Probably not going to be a fun day for @MarkMulqueen, following the removal of the feeds from the Oireachtas on which @KildareStreet relied.
-
I despair for the future of Northern Irish football when I see 10-12 year olds playing 11-a-side on a full-size pitch.
-
Commenting out vast sections of code you have no need for anymore, rather than simply deleting, is not the way to get on my good side today.
-
Judging by the amount of bell-ringing going on in Hillsborough right now I suspect that someone is invading the country.
-
Gov bod on radio said taxpayers want to know benefit sys efficient. No, I want people to get help they need. Then we worry about efficiency.
-
The only surprise I feel regarding the Armstrong news is that it has taken this long to happen.
-
@legsidelizzy Don’t say anything!!! There is nothing commenting on in the batting. Nothing ;)
-
I understand OPTA should benefit from this, no problem with that. I just think the language of the T&Cs is a bit sweeping #MCFCAnalytics 2/2
-
Regarding my #MCFCAnalytics uncertainty, I’m not against the data release, I’m just against the sweeping claim to any work done using it 1/2
-
I’d have signed up already for #mcfcanalytics, but point 4 of the terms and conditions is a killer. I wonder how many have actually read it.
-
This excites me an awful lot MT @guardian_sport: Manchester City to open the archive on player data and statistics. gu.com/p/39n23/tw
-
@carisenda @StrayTaoist @martymc @swmcc Sweet zombie jesus!
-
@swmcc Remind me to start following you again tomorrow once I show you how the caps lock key works.
-
@HaVoCT5 @swmcc Go to www.eurovisionsports.tv/london2012/index.htmland click the right arrow on the top row. It’s in there. Tea, with milk, thanks. Cup on my desk.
-
Time to have lunch and watch Katie Taylor.
-
No matter how old I get space launches and landings are still awesome!
-
@NASAJPL Congratulations! Fantastic job :)
-
The NHS tribute was a nice idea at least. Slightly shambolic, but worth doing. As for the rest, well… #openingceremony
-
The Underworld #openingceremony theme was excellent. Sadly I have little else positive to say.
-
By the end of this project I will be fluent in “Bug Report”, as my Bug Report to English translation skills are really being put to the test
-
-
I hate the fact that when I look at job requirements I focus on the one area I’m weak in rather than the multiple areas I’m strong.
-
That was related to poker, for the non-poker fans among you. Which reminds me I must play online again soon.
-
I’ve only just had the chance to catch up on @VictoriaCoren at the WSOP, and I’m delighted to see that she’s in the last 30 odd of WSOP 53.
-
Spend last night having many short dreams about the project I’m working on, none of them good. Now I’m in work. This will not be a good week
-
Granted, I’ve been guilty of the crime in that re-tweet myself. Generally I realise what I’ve done just after saying it :(
-
I despair at “developers” who fail to write coherent code or explanatory comments. It’s a “Fuck You” from them to people who follow.
-
Extending poorly documented code reminds me of 80s adventure games. Slowly mapping and gradually understanding how it all holds together.
-
I’d have more time for criticisms from Roy Keane if he said what he’d actually do selection-wise and tactically.
-
Woohoo! RT @blzzrd: Issue Five digital downloads are available now! (for subscribers, that is)
-
I just laughed at a sudo-based joke. I feel slightly ashamed now.
-
@carisenda Worth a try. I never thought to see how a fusion table would handle it. Thanks for putting the idea in my head during work :P
-
@carisenda The data is horrible sadly. Start and end times mixed in the route info. Multiple days in a single parade. No organisations etc.
-
@carisenda I’m not sure when it appeared. It wasn’t there last year when I wrote a script to extract it all!
-
@carisenda If I find something that will do a decent job of extracting the “route” info from the data I’m right back on it though :)
-
@carisenda Nope. I looked into doing it, but the free text aspect of the routes in the Parades Commission data finally broke me.
-
My call for the solicitors to get a move on earlier has just borne fruit. Not a good sign for Cardinal Brady I hope.
-
Redknapp on the BBC for Euro 2012? Are they trying to see how rubbish BBC football can get? Now far below the barrel and mining further.
-
To catch up on a busy week: Brady, resign for fucks sake; Hodgson, best choice; Pep, thanks and enjoy the break; solicitors, get a move on.
-
@BarryMcBride The Mock Draft Muncher appears to be confused. Kuechly , Kirkpatrick, Mercilus, Jenkins, and more picked more than once.
-
After hours wrestling with a problem, over a few days, I finally solve it by going back to basics in a few minutes. Wood for the trees…
-
I’ve enjoyed his radio work, but find him a repetitive presenter. Granted, I like @ManyHues, prefer Horizon with a narrator, not a presenter
-
The sooner we can make an AI that can present a concept more quickly than Marcus de Sautoy the better.
-
Having colleagues ask me about testing, or for examples of tests I’ve written, is gratifying. Banging away at the topic has paid off :)
-
Tho after some experimenting with @sinatra I probably will use it for the project I’m playing with. @stevebiscuit may have created a monster
-
After experimenting with @datamapper I’ve switched back to ActiveRecord. I couldn’t find any support for spatial column types. Nice though.
-
@stevebiscuit As you’re the Belfast Sinatra go-to guy… What, if any, ORM do you tend to use with Sinatra?
-
It’s becoming rather pleasant to wake up and see that @Irelandcricket has won another T20 qualifier comfortably. Hopefully one more too.
-
-
Great to see Afghanistan qualify for the T20 World Cup. I just hope that @Irelandcricket manage to win the next two matches to join them
-
@C4EqualMarriage Your petition form rejects valid email addresses, such as the one I tried to put in with a + sign.
-
@blzzrd I’ve just realised that yesterday was your 1st anniversary. Congratulations :)
-
Not sure how I missed Orbital have a new album coming soon. Thankfully @grahamb put me right, and pointed me to their @SoundCloud page.
-
Finally got around to putting some old project on @github :)
-
Two days in a row I’ve arrived in to work to find an email perfectly pitched to completely piss me off. This has not been fun.
-
@TheMACBelfast On a more positive note, I’m really looking forward to the Lowry show :)
-
@TheMACBelfast You might want to fix the spelling mistake on the homepage. “Incovenience”?
-
@Johnboy636 Fine final over bowling there. Great work!
-
I just made a catch that was wasted outside of a cricket field. One-handed, not even looking at the ball. Did anyone care? No. Philistines.
-
2 weeks to the new issue of The Blizzard (@blzzrd). Woohoo!!!
-
@Canonisation Jeff and Rossi sitting in a tree!
-
I’m sceptical as to the value of the FIFA rankings, however that doesn’t stop me from feeling happy that Rep. of Ireland are up to 20th.
-
I’ve just heard something from @swmcc which made me hold my head in my hands in shock. He is a disturbing man!
-
@theyellowdoor Well that was good. With that I shall bid you adieu!
-
Well that was worth staying up for. Hopefully I won’t pay for this by being more I’ll tomorrow.
-
Obviously, anything bad I say about the BBC Super Bowl coverage does not include @Carlsonsports. He will be excellent as always.
-
I’m already embarrassed by the BBC Super Bowl coverage
-
I hate being ill. At least I have a Test match to follow, and @ManyHues is looking after me very well.
-
Made it to @BelfastRuby in one piece. Actually managed to see a live @davidjrice!
-
Might as well dream :) RT @Irelandcricket: ‘Ireland to become a Test Nation by 2020 and nothing less’ Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom
-
Oh so right. RT @john_self: I don’t know why there aren’t any Greggs in Northern Ireland. They would bloody well clean up here.
-
I must recommend the book A Life Too Short: The Tragedy of Robert Enke by Ronald Reng. Wonderfully written, painful reading.
-
I go away for a little while and @opendatani finally admits to having shut down. Well that was underwhelming while it lasted.
-
@Waterstones Your mobile site is down and your iPhone app is displaying nothing.
