The fourth Dexter novel is a definite improvement over the third. I don’t know whether an editor had a word but the “Dark Passenger” overkill from the third novel was toned down and it made a substantial difference. Sadly the story didn’t quite work. Once again Lindsay does a good job of setting up an interesting scenario and then doesn’t seem to have any idea of how to resolve it in a satisfactory manner. The end of the book is very disappointing and really lets the rest down.
