I had never actually read any Dickens before reading “A Tale of Two Cities”. I’d seen various television and film adaptations of numerous stories and enjoyed them but I’d never read any. When Michèle and my Mum discovered this they were shocked and “insisted” that I put this right. Michèle suggested “A Tale of Two Cities” and I gradually worked my way through it. Reading it while jetlagged and then ill didn’t help but I must say that it was fantastic. I was worried I’d be let down as my expectations were so high, however it was in no way a disappointment.
