I don’t normally go for Star Trek books but this one, the first part of a projected trilogy which was never finished, is actually well done. The idea of it is that it covers what happened to the Enterprise crew between the period covered by the TV series and the beginning of the film stories. It’s actually quite well written and surprisingly enough for a Star Trek book doesn’t have a ridiculous over the top plot.
