An interesting novel set in multiple different periods, the 1940s and modern times, and intertwining the stories to create a fairly coherent whole. I enjoyed the story on the whole but felt that parts of it were merely padding and could have been left out with no adverse effects. I did enjoy the aspects related to computing and code-breaking, in fact I found them particularly fascinating.
I get the feeling that I’ll enjoy this much more second time around as sometimes happens with books, although this one did intrigue me enough to encourage me to buy Stephensons Quicksilver.
