Not the easiest read but well worth working through. It covers the civil war in the emerging Soviet Union and goes into great detail surrounding the events. The best parts of the book cover the circumstances of the people who aren’t actually directly involved in the conflict in the battles but who have to deal with the complete lack of heating and shortages of food. The descriptions of the extreme tactics on all sides in the war are also shocking and help to explain the future course of events in the Soviet Union.
